Sweet, Spice and Everything Nice
DCPS lunches has been rearranged by First Lady Michelle Obama. She wanted to take a more healthier route. Cutting out a lot of sugar, and salt has affected how many days students eat lunch a week. There are other ways to enjoy school lunches, and educate the students while trying to achieve good grades, during these long seven hours school days. ----
Most of the students stated if the food was just a little bit more appealing, they would consider wanting to eat it everyday.Students at Mckinley Technology High School said it’s very unhealthy for them to skip days and not eat the school lunch because of the bland taste .What the students can do, is make a petition on adding more salt and sugar to the students likings. Another option is, bring condiments to school to make sure one is to eat food, and secondly to take make sure their food is very tasteful in order for them to eat it. “Yes because if they do not like it and don’t taste good, and have no sweetness they won’t eat it, and end up going to Wendy’s or something after school”. Student Bayyinah Goss are one of the student who dislike the school lunch, and wishes they had more condiments for the students to add into their food. If the students wait all they way after school, they would be doing the total opposite of what DCPS wants for the student. DCPS is striving to healthier.
Adding salt and sugar to the lunches has their pros and cons. The students are blinded by the cons and just want the pros to come in affect. In others words the student would like the food to be appealing. “Too much salt is not good for you, and you do not want too much sugar for the kids because they will be very hyper, too much sugar could make the dean of students more active, and cause more trouble”. The cons are affecting how the student act around the school. The students will be more active in class, but some student will be a little more hyper than others to the point it brings staff being evolved. The pros for the students is their grades will be affected positively, by being more attentive in class. Even the staff members at the school agree
“I do think the should add a little more added sweets to the diets to level it out, because I’m going to be honest it is not the greatest”.
