Uber vs Taxi
Taxi:
- Wait for a taxi in the area or call and wait
- Get in the car with a stranger
- $2.50 fall-pull charge plus $0.40 per mile
- Dependent on wealthiness of neighborhood to determine the availability
- Regulated by cab companies, city officials
- It is not public transportation
- Once you call a cab it is not guaranteed to come to your location.(Even is you reserve a cab)
- since all that means is that at the assigned time they'll put out a bid to see if anyone is interested.(they only guaranteed time is when going to an airport)
- So if you need a taxi from your house, you have to allow maximum padding time (for a phone to get answered, and hoping the cab will come)
Uber:
- Fast response
- Less cost
- The app is convenient
- Arbitrary
- Gets in a car with a stranger
- With app able to know what car you should lookout for
- Regulated by fate
- Is not public transportation
- You use a smartphone app to see which Uber's fleet of roaming town cars is closest to where you are.
- You send a pickup order: the closest car comes to an address you specify, or automatically to your GPS location.
- You tell the driver where you'd like to go: and at the end the fare is billed to your credit card
So in the end it is safe to say that Taxi's has a lot of flaws to be corrected in order to compete with Uber driver. They have to start and try and change their ways in order to show that getting a ride from them is not expensive, and their rides will be guaranteed. Uber has done a great job with their availability, and them doing extra with treats, and chargers in their cars.
